On April 24, 2007, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick officially announced the establishment of a partnership with the College of Psychologists and the New Brunswick Department of Wellness, Culture and Sport in developing a recognition award for New Brunswick businesses that implement initiatives to promote workplace wellness. Researchers have found that employees who enjoy good overall health are more dedicated, have higher productivity, miss less work and are more likely to state that they are happy with their career choice and current job. To encourage the development of organizational initiatives to promote psychological wellness, the CPNB is putting its expertise toward the establishment of a recognition award to be called "Wellness at Heart Award" The objective of this award program is to recognize organizations that seek to help their employees live healthier lives both at home and in the workplace. All businesses in New Brunswick are eligible for this recognition award if they can demonstrate that they have implemented initiatives to reduce smoking, to increase physical activity, and to promote sound nutrition and psychological wellness. Awards will be presented on three levels, gold, silver and bronze, maximizing the opportunity to showcase businesses that demonstrate evidence of initiatives in the abovementioned areas in both quality and quantity. The Partners We encourage all organizations, large and small, to stand up and be recognized as an employer who cares about the health of their employees.
